Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 25, 2026
SplitScout is a small, independent project. This page explains what data it collects, why, and what control you have over it. No legalese padding, just the real picture.
Who runs this
SplitScout is built and operated by an independent producer (hi, that's me). If you have any privacy question, reach out through the feedback page.
What I collect
- Account info: when you sign in with Google, I receive your email, name, and avatar from Google. If you use the email link option, just your email.
- Usage analytics: page views, the referring site, your device type, and an approximate country. Your IP address is never stored raw — it's hashed and truncated so it can't be traced back to you.
- Referral data: if you arrive via someone's referral link, a code is stored so the right person gets credit.
- Your activity: labels you favorite, feedback you send (including any screenshots you attach), and links you click.
Why I collect it
- To let you log in and keep your favorites.
- To understand which labels and pages people find useful.
- To run the referral program fairly.
- To read your feedback and fix things.
I never sell your data, and I don't run third-party ad trackers.
Cookies
- Essential (always on): your login session and your theme choice. The site can't work without these.
- Analytics & referral (optional): used to count visits and attribute referrals. In the EU/UK these only run after you accept them in the cookie banner.
Who I share it with
I use a few trusted services to run the site:
- Vercel — hosting
- Neon — database
- Google — sign-in
- Resend — sending login emails
That's it. No data brokers, no ad networks.
How long I keep it
Account and activity data is kept while your account exists. Analytics data is kept in aggregate. Delete your account and the personal data tied to it goes with it.
Your rights
You can ask me to show, export, or delete your data, and you can withdraw cookie consent any time by clearing your cookies. To request deletion or a copy of your data, message me through the feedback page and I'll handle it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, I'll update the date at the top. Keep using the site after a change and you're accepting the update.
